Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine hydrochloride)
Vitamin B6 helps to maintain the body's water balance by suppressing aldosterone, which may be implicated in the fluid retention often associated with premenstrual syndrome. It is also involved in the utilisation of magnesium, (deficiency of which may lead to menstrual cramping) and helps linoleic acid function better in the body (disruption of this essential fatty acid is a contributing factor in premenstrual syndrome). A higher intake of B6 is advisable whilst on long-term oral contraceptive therapy.
